Twenty-five years in the United States Army. Thirty-three years in the Lowcountry. Now ready to serve Beaufort County Council District 8.

Kraig Gordon served twenty-five years as an officer in the United States Army, retiring after a career defined by leadership, engineering excellence, and a deep commitment to mission. He brought those same values home to the Lowcountry, where he and his family have lived for over thirty-three years.
As Chairman of the Beaufort County Transportation Committee, Kraig has spent years working alongside county staff, engineers, and elected officials on the road, bridge, and infrastructure decisions that affect every resident of District 8. He doesn't need a grace period to learn the budget, the players, or the priorities. He's already at the table.
What separates Kraig is the engineering mindset he brings to every problem. Identify the root cause. Measure twice, cut once. Build for the long haul. That discipline is exactly what Beaufort County needs as growth pressures, traffic, and infrastructure demands continue to mount.
"My life has been governed by three words: Duty, Honor, Country. I'm running for District 8 because the Lowcountry deserves leaders who put service first, ask the hard questions, and build solutions that last."
Three priorities. Real solutions. Engineering-driven thinking applied to the issues that affect every resident of District 8.
Beaufort County's roads, bridges, and intersections weren't designed for the volume of traffic we see today. As Chairman of the County Transportation Committee, Kraig has spent years working through the data, the budgets, and the engineering trade-offs.
His approach is simple: fix what's broken, plan for what's coming, and stop wasting money on band-aid solutions. Smart prioritization of capital projects, honest conversations about timelines, and engineering-grade analysis of every dollar spent.
The Lowcountry is one of the most desirable places to live in America, and that's not going to change. The question is whether the county manages that growth or simply reacts to it.
Kraig will push for updated impact fees that reflect real costs, smarter zoning that protects what makes the Lowcountry special, and a long-range capital plan that holds developers and the county equally accountable. Growth has to pay its own way.
Economic development isn't about chasing every business that comes knocking. It's about finding the right fit for the Lowcountry: quality employers, sustainable industries, and businesses that strengthen the community without straining infrastructure or quality of life.
Kraig will champion targeted, disciplined economic development that brings good jobs, expands the tax base, and respects the character of District 8.
